Taylors won the 'Most Successful Winery of the Competition' Trophy at the recent Sydney International Wine Competition (2002). Several of its wines took top honours in the various categories. Its 2001 Shiraz, 2001 Riesling and 1998 St. Andrews Riesling all took away three Gold medals. The 2001 Riesling was awarded the 'Best one year old premium white wine'.

Having been brought up in a winemaking family, Lisa wanted a new approach for her label. Not elitist, not mass market, but tailored to a discerning market at affordable prices.

The name Thorn-Clarke derives literally from the relationship between two long time Barossa families. The winery owners are David and Cheryl Clarke (nee Thorn) and their son Sam is manager of the winery. Cheryl's brother, David Thorn manages the Mount Crawford and Kabininge vineyards for Thorn-Clarke Wines. Her father Ron Thorn has one of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in Australia and possibly the world on the Thorn family property 'Clifton' outside of Angaston. Earliest records show this old vineyard was in existence in 1854.

The Tiltili vineyad takes its name from the Australian aboriginal word for Magpie. In 1905 it was part of block 99, a section of the original Langhorne Creek Station of Burnside Estate, where 40 acres of Zante currants thrived in the rich alluvial soils on the banks of the River Bremer.
