Bird in Hand Sparkling Pinot Noir 2024

Special Price $25.00 Regular Price $29.00
Both grown on the estate and sourced from quality growers, the grapes are crushed and destemmed straight into the press to retain delicacy and aromatics and minimise colour transfer from the skins. The wine’s salmon pink colour is matched by a delicate strawberry aroma along with citrus blossom. The palate offers cherry and strawberry flavours and a creamy texture. The refined structure of this wine is highlighted by its subtle acidity and the elegance of very fine beading.

Bird in Hand was established in 1997 when viticulturist and winemaker Andrew Nugent left Tatachilla and planted the family vineyard at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, near the historic goldmine of the same name. Along with another vineyard in the notable Clare region, the great fruit and skilled work of this producer come together in a stellar range of wines.

Ably assisted by Master of Wine, Kym Milne as Winemaker, the Nugent’s produce excellent wines.

Considerably cooler than the surrounding plains, the hills are washed in rain during winter months, and the peaks wrapped in fog. It is considered a high rainfall region compared to other Australian regions, but outside of winter the climate is warm and dry. Night time temperatures are the feature - notably cooler than the day when the sun sets. Worth noting is how the average rainfall increases the higher you go, with Mount Lofty picking up 1400mm on the old splash-o-meter compared to 850mm just 10K down the road in Charleston. This range of moisture and altitudes results in a variety of soils, but in general are sand and clay loam over clay subsoils. ... Read Full Article

His skills as a viticulturalist, vineyard manager and winemaker may have been honed in McLaren Vale, but were realised at Bird in Hand. In his words: "We live and work at the winery. We know the best thing we can do for our community is grow and produce the best wine and olives we can. Our success will be our community’s success. A high tide lifts all the boat ...
